News Tip Submission

News Media

Norwich has a rigorous process for advancing university news via news releases to journalists and other public constituents. Sending a news release acts as an explicit invitation to journalists of all types – print, online and broadcast – to cover or otherwise write about or report on the subject of the release. If you want to publicize an event, the first criteria for a new release is that the event is open to the public. Ideal lead time to maximize this resource is 2-4 weeks from the event. There are other types of news we publicize via news release, such as examples of experiential learning, grants, partnerships, etc. Director of Media Relations & Community Affairs Daphne Larkin is happy to discuss the possibility of producing and distributing a news release with you. We also help facilitate subject-area expertise interviews with the news media and can work with you to prepare to interact with the news media.

Social Media

Social media is a communications tool that serves as a relatively inexpensive platform to implement marketing campaigns and facilitate interaction among individuals and our brand. Norwich University uses social media to connect with prospective students, students, graduate students, parents and families, alumni and the public from across the globe. The university shares news, events, photos and video that capture the vibrancy of the community and its culture to tell Norwich’s story.

The Office of Communications team oversees all social media associated with Norwich, advising best practices to ensure Norwich’s branding is consistent and our messages are clear.

Athletic Communications

The Athletic Communications office publicizes and promotes news, feature stories and statistics about the 20 Norwich University varsity athletic teams and maintains NorwichAthletics.com. The office manages @NorwichCadets social media channels on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube and provides live video streaming of a majority of the home varsity athletic events. From home game statistics to game day programs, event recaps, highlight and feature videos to student-athlete bios, we communicate the wins and the losses and facilitate local, regional and national media coverage.
